    • A former nightclub, Starmaker's, becomes the center of a decades-spanning mystery and later a museum gala stage.
    • The plot includes repeated pregnancy revelations and a running joke about multiple people unexpectedly being pregnant at brunch.

    Full story (spoilers)
The story opens with the Postal Service's Dead Letter Office team at brunch, where a weathered letter found behind the bar of the former nightclub Starmaker's is brought in for inspection. The note contains a moon-centered message, a mention of "Tell It to the Moon," and clues that suggest the writer is a young woman who has been living carefully and secretly. The team quickly realizes the letter is not simply a fan note, but a deeply personal message that may be tied to a missing singer and to someone she is trying to reach safely. Their investigation sends Oliver, Shane, Charley, Norman, and the others to Las Vegas to question Nate Holloway, the singer who turned the hinted-at song into a hit. Nate initially acts evasive, but when pressed, he admits that the real creative force behind his early success was a woman named Tracy Reo, whom he met while they were both struggling musicians. Tracy wrote songs, including the one that became "Tell It to the Moon," but she never wanted public attention and disappeared after a fight in Denver. As the team follows the paper trail, they learn that Tracy Reo is actually Lily Conley, a woman who grew up hiding with her mother after her father committed bank robbery and dragged the family into witness-like secrecy. Lily explains that she and her mother changed names, moved often, and used P.O. boxes and occasional "passes" in public places to communicate while avoiding capture. The letter from Starmaker's was the last one Lily could safely leave for her mother, and the clues lead the team to a Denver church organist named Margot Hope, who is really Lily's mother, Camille Conley. While the mystery deepens, Oliver's personal life mirrors the story's themes. Shane is pregnant, and the couple faces the usual anxieties of imminent parenthood, including medical checks and the possibility of gestational diabetes. Oliver also receives a box of letters from his deceased biological father, Harvey Schmidtz, and finally confronts Joe O'Toole about why those letters were hidden for so long. Their argument becomes a painful but necessary reckoning about what makes someone a father and how much love can exist in imperfect families. Oliver eventually finds Camille at Denver Park Episcopal Church and delivers Lily's letter, along with the money Lily has been sending through Nate. Camille is terrified of being turned in, but she asks for just a little more time so her younger daughter Amber can turn eighteen before the authorities are alerted. Oliver, moved by the family's sacrifice and Lily's loyalty, honors that request, giving Camille one last chance to be with her daughters. At the museum fundraising gala, the former Starmaker's space is transformed into a stage for one final musical reunion. Lily is encouraged to sing, and mother and daughter finally see each other again before Camille is taken in. The emotional performance resolves the central mystery, allows Lily to reclaim her voice, and leaves Oliver with a clearer understanding of love, duty, and second chances. The film closes with the birth of Sunny, reconciliation within the O'Toole family, and a sense that despite the pain of the day, the characters are moving toward a hopeful future.
