    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Jennifer Shannon visiting her client, Bill Wallace, who hosts full-contact medieval battles in his backyard. Bill commissions Jennifer to find a specific 17th-century Jacobean chair. While at an estate sale, Jennifer outbids a young woman named Emma for a suit of armor, purchasing it for $800. Shortly after, Professor Robert McNary visits Jennifer’s shop, Rags to Riches, offering $3,000 for the armor, claiming it is for 'educational purposes.' Jennifer reveals it has already been sold to Bill Wallace. That night, McNary is found dead, stuffed inside the suit of armor at Bill’s house, having been struck by a mace. Detective Frank Lynwood begins an investigation, noting that while the armor was thought to be a reproduction, an expert reveals it is an authentic Milanese piece worth $100,000. Jennifer begins her own investigation at the local college, meeting Emma Mitchell, McNary’s teaching assistant, and her possessive boyfriend, Jeremy. Suspicion initially falls on Tim Sanders, a star football player whom McNary was planning to fail, which would cost him his professional career. A bloody scrap of a t-shirt with Sanders' jersey number is mailed to the police, seemingly framing him. Meanwhile, Jennifer’s daughter Hannah runs for class president against a wealthy opponent, and her business partner Dani navigates a disappointing high school reunion encounter with an old crush who turns out to be married, eventually finding a better connection with a 'spiritually awakened' former classmate named Larry. As Jennifer digs deeper, she realizes the crime scene was staged. She notices a decorative sword on Bill Wallace’s wall was replaced backward, suggesting the killer panicked and moved it. The mystery takes a darker turn when Emma Mitchell is found dead in her bathtub, seemingly an accidental electrocution by a hair dryer. However, Jennifer learns Emma didn't use hair dryers, and the device belonged to her roommate. Jennifer realizes that McNary had coerced Emma into helping him steal the armor to pay off his divorce debts, but they were interrupted. In the climax, Jennifer goes to Bill’s house to meet the butler, Tucker, who has found new information. She is confronted by Jeremy, Emma’s boyfriend. Jeremy reveals he followed Emma and McNary to the house, suspecting an affair. When he found them stealing the armor, he killed McNary in a rage and later killed Emma when she tried to leave him. Jeremy, wielding a broadsword, attempts to kill Jennifer and Tucker to cover his tracks. Jennifer uses her knowledge of the house and medieval weaponry to defend herself until the police arrive to arrest Jeremy. The film concludes with Tim Sanders being cleared of charges and Hannah finding a compromise in her school election.
