For Better or for Worse

Wendy Hampton is a successful wedding planner who has spent years protecting her heart following the death of her husband, Dennis. Her orderly life is disrupted when Marco Amorini, a charismatic but cynical divorce attorney, opens his practice right next to her wedding chapel, leading to an immediate clash over signage and parking. The situation turns personal when Wendy’s son, Collin, and Marco’s daughter, Sophia, return from college with a series of bombshells: they are engaged, they are dropping out of law school, they have become strict vegans, and they intend to lease a farm to start an organic agriculture business. Both parents are horrified by the impulsiveness of the match and the abandonment of stable legal careers. Wendy and Marco form an uneasy alliance to 'save' their children from what they perceive as a life-altering mistake. They attempt various interventions, including a session with Wendy's pre-marital counselor, Pastor Macy, who surprisingly gives the couple his blessing. Marco takes Collin on a disastrous fishing trip to lecture him on the fleeting nature of passion, while Wendy takes the couple to a dilapidated farm, hoping the reality of manual labor and cow manure will deter them. Throughout these schemes, Wendy continues to date Logan, a safe but incredibly dull biology teacher whose idea of a wild night is playing 'Wordorama' or watching documentaries about the Taiga forest. As Wendy and Marco spend more time together, including a romantic turn at a dance class where Marco's Italian charm begins to melt Wendy's defenses, the chemistry between the two parents becomes undeniable. Desperate to stop the wedding, Marco convinces Wendy to use Collin’s ex-girlfriend, Emily, to spark jealousy. Wendy manipulates a situation where Collin and Emily spend time together at a local restaurant, Zeno's, which Sophia witnesses. The plan backfires spectacularly, leading to a heated confrontation where Collin accuses Wendy of living her life in fear and protecting herself from love ever since his father died. Realizing the damage they've caused, and encouraged by Wendy's father-in-law Ray, Wendy and Marco have a change of heart. Wendy breaks up with Logan, and she and Marco join forces one last time—not to stop a wedding, but to plan a surprise, perfect vegan ceremony at the organic farm. The film concludes with Collin and Sophia's successful wedding, where Wendy and Marco finally embrace their own feelings for each other, dancing together as the 'Cupid-in-laws' of the new family.
