Lauren Miller works as a fashion librarian for Seamless magazine in Seattle, where she manages the publication's massive wardrobe with meticulous detail. Despite her hard work and reliance on 'lucky cookies,' her boss Julia informs her that while her organizational skills are top-tier, her writing lacks a distinct 'point of view.' Disheartened and facing a magazine transition to digital-only, Lauren decides to quit and move back to her hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona. She meets Rob Peterson, Julia's cousin and the owner of a moving company, when he accidentally eats her last lucky cookie. Because Rob is overbooked, Lauren strikes a deal: she will use her organizational expertise to help him move a difficult client more efficiently if he fits her move into his schedule. Rob, a former college baseball player who now coaches a youth team called the Thundercats, challenges Lauren's dislike of Seattle. He bets her that if she can't find three things she loves about the city before her move, he will move her for free. As Lauren prepares to leave, her mother tries to set her up with Brian, an old high school crush who is visiting Seattle. Lauren goes on a 'nautical' date with Brian at a harbor pop-up restaurant, but finds herself more drawn to Rob's relaxed nature. Rob takes her on 'aimless' walks, introduces her to Seattle-style hot dogs with cream cheese, and shows her the beauty of the local botanical gardens. Meanwhile, Rob's baseball team loses its sponsor for the Travel League. Lauren suggests a silent auction to raise funds, utilizing the warehouse full of items Rob has been storing for friends. The auction is a massive success, bolstered by a donation of high-end clothing from Seamless magazine. However, a misunderstanding occurs when Lauren sees Rob interacting with his ex-girlfriend, Rachel, and assumes they are reconciling. On the eve of her move, Lauren's mother arrives to help her pack. Lauren realizes that her true 'point of view' isn't traditional fashion writing, but the intersection of organization and style. She creates a series of 'life hack' videos for the magazine's digital platform. Julia is impressed and offers her a new role as a digital content creator. Lauren realizes she doesn't want to leave Seattle or Rob. She rushes to the warehouse to cancel her move, confesses her love for the city and for Rob, and they share a kiss. The film ends with Lauren staying in Seattle, having found her professional and personal place in the world.
