Belinda Phillips is a successful real estate developer in the city, poised for a junior partnership if she can close a deal to acquire a property in her hometown of Deerfield. Upon arriving, she discovers the property is the Textile Heritage Mill and Museum, which is managed by her high school sweetheart, Dustin Cooper. The two have a tense reunion at a local garage, where Belinda learns Dustin never left town. Her best friend Faith rigs the town's annual Christmas Scavenger Hunt so that Belinda and Dustin are paired together, forcing them to spend the day completing ten festive tasks. Throughout the hunt, they cut down a tree for a wealthy recluse named James Brogue, build a snowman, and visit Santa. During these activities, Dustin reveals the truth about why he broke his promise to go to college with her: his father lost his job, and he stayed to support his family. This revelation softens Belinda's heart, even as she struggles with the guilt of her secret mission to sell the museum. The conflict intensifies when Belinda's city boyfriend, Logan, arrives. Logan is hyper-focused on work and clearly out of place in the small-town setting. The scavenger hunt concludes with a karaoke duet, after which James Brogue, moved by Belinda and Dustin's earlier act of kindness, announces he will donate the funds to save the museum from redevelopment. Realizing her values have shifted, Belinda breaks up with Logan, who admits he belongs in the city. Belinda and Dustin reconcile, and Dustin gives her a locket with a picture of the two of them, signaling a new beginning in their old home.
