Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: An Inheritance to Die For

The film opens with the Real Murders Club hosting an Agatha Christie-themed night at the gothic estate of Gladys Allison-McCourt. During the game, club members discuss poison as a 'woman's method of murder,' foreshadowing the tragedy to come. The following day, Gladys's niece Lizzie marries Bubba Rankart. At the reception, Gladys collapses and dies shortly after a toast. While initially thought to be a heart attack, an autopsy reveals she was poisoned with cyanide. The tension escalates during the reading of the will, where it is revealed that Gladys disinherited her son Cade—leaving him only a small annual stipend—and bequeathed the bulk of her fortune, including the Allicourt manufacturing company, to her friend Aida Teagarden. This shocking turn of events makes Aida the target of Cade's rage and public suspicion. Aurora begins investigating several leads: Tannis, Gladys's caretaker, who was taking a chemistry class involving cyanide; Jeremy, the caterer, who received an unusually large $500,000 bequest despite having massive gambling debts; and Victor Hansen, the former CEO of Allicourt who was forced into retirement. A black sedan attempts to run down Aurora and Victor, signaling that the killer is desperate. Aurora discovers a sealed court case (BR00263) revealing that Cade had embezzled over a million dollars and framed Victor, a secret Gladys had recently discovered. The investigation takes a dark turn when Jeremy the caterer is found murdered by a cyanide injection in his kitchen. Aurora eventually deduces that Victor Hansen is the mastermind; he had blackmailed Jeremy into poisoning Gladys to get revenge for his forced retirement and to reclaim his position as CEO. In a final confrontation at the Allicourt factory, Victor shoots Cade and threatens Aida and Aurora before being apprehended by the police. The film concludes with Lizzie being named the new CEO of Allicourt and Nick telling Aurora he is falling in love with her.
