    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist pulls a murder weapon out of her husband's chest and then apologizes to the detective for 'interfering'.
    • Audrey kidnaps her neighbor at gunpoint using a fake gun she got from a teenager.
    • The killer is revealed because she was 'wired' and stayed up all night baking brioche after the murder.
    • The mistress calls the protagonist a 'stupid kangaroo'.
    • The protagonist's primary source of forensic knowledge is the TV show 'Forensic Files'.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Audrey and Michael Brandon celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary with a lavish party. The celebration is cut short when Michael confesses he is in love with a younger colleague, Christine Vole, and leaves Audrey. Months later, Audrey is struggling to move on when she discovers Michael dead in her kitchen with a knife in his chest. In a moment of panic, she pulls the knife out, inadvertently contaminating the crime scene. Detective Mulligan immediately suspects Audrey, citing her motive of revenge and a potential inheritance. Fearing arrest, Audrey skips Michael's funeral and flees to the city to conduct her own investigation. She first visits Artie Green, Michael's disgruntled former business partner, who helps her hack into Michael's phone logs. Audrey then confronts Gretchen Van Horne, a publicist Michael fired, who reveals that Michael was 'besotted' with Christine but that Christine was likely cheating on him. While hiding out with the help of J.J. Sefton, her son's friend, Audrey discovers that Christine was indeed having an affair with a powerful man named Jeff Sheldrake. Audrey reconnects with her college boyfriend, David Larabee, who helps her gather intel from his wife, Joan, a socialite who knew Michael's secrets. Audrey learns of a mysterious woman named 'Mandy' who Michael was involved with before Christine. The investigation takes a dark turn when Audrey realizes 'Mandy' was a pseudonym for her best friend, Phyllis Dietrichson. Audrey returns to her neighborhood and confronts Phyllis and her husband Carter. It is revealed that Phyllis killed Michael in a fit of rage because he dumped her for Christine, and Carter had been covering for her, even going so far as to shoot at Audrey in the woods to keep her away. After a tense confrontation involving a fake gun and a swimming pool, Phyllis is arrested, and Audrey is cleared of all charges. The film ends with Audrey and David starting a new romantic chapter together over Chinese takeout.
