    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist's culinary 'genius' breakthrough is based on her childhood habit of dipping fried chicken into ice cream.
    • A date is immediately disqualified because he puts a 'whole layer' of ketchup on Beef Wellington.
    • The love interest uses his Boy Scout training to fire-extinguish a dessert that was supposed to be flambΓ©ed.
    • The agent decides to quit the agency life to become a part-owner of a small-town Florida seafood shack.

    Full story (spoilers)
Taylor June Rider is the star of 'Quick, Easy, and Delicious' (QED), a successful but shallow cooking show on the Culinary Network. Despite being offered a massive primetime contract, Taylor feels like a 'one-trick pony' and retreats to her hometown of Dunedin, Florida, for a break. Upon arrival, she is shocked to find her parents, Glenn and Patty, are selling their beloved restaurant, Sea Sea Riders. Glenn has lost his passion for cooking following the death of his mother, Grandma CC, and a recent ladder injury has left him unable to manage the kitchen. Taylor also runs into Jacob Dylan, her childhood sweetheart who now runs Harbor Farms, an organic local supplier. The reunion is initially tense, as Jacob resents Taylor for leaving and never looking back, while Taylor feels judged for her commercial success. To save the restaurant's legacy or at least go out with a 'bang,' Taylor enters Sea Sea Riders into the Dunedin Food and Wine Festival Cook-Off. She faces off against Linda Box, a rival caterer who has won the competition for years. Taylor initially struggles to create a winning dish, stuck in her 'quick and easy' TV mindset. Jacob takes her to a local barbacoa stand for inspiration, reminding her that great food requires heart and local soul. This leads Taylor to a breakthrough: she decides to elevate a bizarre childhood favoriteβ€”fried chicken dipped in ice cream. She develops a 'Blueberry Chicken and Waffle' entree and an ice cream-stuffed blueberry donut dessert. As the competition nears, Taylor's agent, Jessica, arrives with the primetime contract, pressuring her to sign. Taylor initially agrees, thinking the money will help her parents. However, during the cook-off, Taylor and Glenn rediscover their joy for cooking together. They win the 'Golden Spatula' award, beating Linda. In the aftermath, Taylor realizes she doesn't want to return to her old life. Her parents offer her the restaurant, but she lacks the funds to reopen it alone. In a twist, Jessica reveals she never submitted the network contract because she sensed Taylor's hesitation; instead, Jessica offers to become a capital partner in the restaurant. Jacob also reveals he was the one who called Jessica to help facilitate the deal. The movie ends with Taylor and Jacob together, and the restaurant successfully reopened as the filming location for Taylor's new, more authentic cooking show.
