    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Lindsay, a dedicated doctor, and her brother Brad, a stressed tax attorney, arriving in Scotland with Brad's wife, Sarah. They are meeting their mother, Josephine, who has mysteriously summoned them to Glencrave Castle. Upon arrival, they are treated like tourists until they stumble into the private quarters and find a birth announcement revealing their mother is actually Lady Josephine, the eldest daughter of the Duke of Glencrave. Josephine explains that she ran away to California decades ago to escape the rigid expectations of royalty, leaving her brother Daniel to take the title. With Daniel's recent passing, the estate has been left to her. The siblings are initially furious about the decades of lies and the missed opportunity to know their uncle and grandparents. As they spend the week participating in local traditions like the winter solstice bonfire and a whisky-tasting competition, the family begins to heal. Brad and Sarah, who are struggling with infertility and marital distance, find new purpose in the community. Lindsay develops a romantic spark with Mac, the property manager, who shows her the importance of the estate to the local village. The conflict peaks when Josephine considers subdividing the estate to sell it, which would devastate the town. In the end, Brad and Sarah decide to move to Scotland and accept the titles of Duke and Duchess. Lindsay, after a moment of hesitation, decides to stay as well, joining the local medical clinic run by Mac's mother and pursuing a relationship with Mac. The film concludes with a family photo featuring a new addition—a baby—symbolizing the family's 'wee Christmas miracle' and their new life in the Highlands.
