    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The critic's hyper-specific tea requests, including tea that tastes like 'tall grass on a summer's evening'.
    • A professional singer's manager booking him into his ex-partner's inn by 'coincidence'.
    • The critic inventing a brand new award category on the spot because the inn didn't actually qualify for the original one.

    Full story (spoilers)
Averie Davis runs the Blue Spruce Inn in a charming small town alongside her pregnant business partner and master baker, Susie. Their holiday season becomes hectic when the town's annual Yuletide Festival venue floods, and Averie agrees to host the event at the inn on short notice. Simultaneously, a mysterious guest named Phyllis Selig arrives, eventually revealing herself as a critic for World Passage Magazine who is evaluating the inn for a prestigious 'Top Winter Lodge' award and a $60,000 prize. The situation becomes emotionally complicated when Jesse Collins, Averie’s former professional duet partner and ex-boyfriend, checks in. The two haven't spoken since their bitter split years prior, which occurred when Averie wanted to settle down and Jesse wanted to continue the grueling life of a touring solo artist. A winter storm grounds Jesse at the inn, and he begins helping with festival preparations, including picking out trees and decorating 'Santa’s Village.' As they spend time together, the old chemistry resurfaces, though Averie remains guarded, fearing Jesse will always prioritize his career over a stable life. Susie and the townspeople constantly nudge the pair to perform their one-hit Christmas wonder, 'It Wouldn't Be Christmas,' but Averie resists, having left her singing career behind. Meanwhile, Phyllis Selig proves to be a difficult guest, making eccentric demands for 'sprightly' tea and 'tall grass' scents, while observing the chaos of the festival planning. Conflict arises when Jesse’s manager, Dan, informs him of a major tour opportunity with star Micah Cameron that would require Jesse to leave immediately. Averie, believing Jesse hasn't changed, encourages him to go. However, after a heart-to-heart with Phyllis about her late husband and the importance of home, and seeing the community spirit of the festival, Jesse realizes his priorities have shifted. When the town carollers fall ill, Averie prepares to sing alone to save the festival. Jesse returns just in time, confessing that he no longer wants to be a 'one-man band' and that his new dream is a life with her. They perform their duet to a cheering crowd. In the aftermath, Susie gives birth to her baby, and Phyllis awards the inn a specially created 'Home Away from Home' award. Jesse decides to move to town permanently to build a recording studio at the inn, and the couple plans a future together, starting with a trip to Europe.
