    The premise

The house that Anna, a new real estate agent, has listed has a spirit from the 1920s that won't go. Even worse, the ghost is afraid she won't be able to "pass over" unless she reconciles Anna with her ex.

Themes:Second chancesHistorical preservationFinding your own voiceLetting go of the pastFamily expectations

    How unusual is it?

More than most. Ghosts/spirits, an actual miracle and a second-chance romance push it well past the usual Hallmark template — the strangest 12% of everything we've logged.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens in 1923 at the 25th birthday party of Ruby Baker. Despite her love for her chauffeur, Charlie, Ruby breaks up with him because her father will never accept their different social classes. That night, she dies in a tragic car accident. In the present day, Anna Vazquez has recently ended her business partnership and engagement with Elliot, a restoration specialist. Her father, a successful real estate mogul, gives her the listing for the Baker estate—a house that has failed to sell five times and is rumored to be jinxed. Upon entering the house, Anna realizes she is the only person who can see and hear Ruby’s ghost. Ruby is determined to sabotage any sale to keep her home, but Anna needs the win to prove herself to her father. As Anna begins preparing the house for an open house, she hires Elliot to restore the damaged woodwork, leading to awkward but lingering romantic tension. Ruby, bored after a century of isolation, begins playing matchmaker for Anna and Elliot, even going so far as to write a love letter in Anna's name. In exchange, Anna helps Ruby experience the modern world, taking her for a drive and even to an antique shop where they find items from Ruby's era. The conflict peaks when Anna's father, pressured by a rival agent named Terrence, decides to sell the house as a 'tear-down' to a shell company. Anna discovers that Ruby was a talented writer who corresponded with F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway. Using these letters as proof of the home's cultural significance, Anna successfully files for historical landmark status, saving the house from demolition. In the emotional climax, Elliot reveals that Charlie Ward, Ruby's lost love, was actually his great-uncle. He shares that Charlie never married and lived a full, happy life as a teacher, always remembering Ruby fondly. This revelation gives Ruby the closure she needs to 'unstick' herself from the mortal plane. After a final dance and a heartfelt goodbye, Ruby moves on to the afterlife. Anna finally stands up to her father, choosing to pursue her own path in restoration rather than just sales. She and Elliot reconcile, agreeing that their relationship, like the house, is worth the work of restoration.
