Richard Thomas skips Hallmark's December playbook entirely. Across five films from 2000 to 2012 there is not a single Christmas title in the bunch, which already sets him apart from most of the lineup. He top-bills three of those five, so the network handed him the lead more often than not, usually in a small town that supplies the scenery. The best of the run is Annie's Point from 2005, which at 6.8 sits just ahead of Wild Hearts and Time after Time, and his ratings hold steady around 6.2 without ever spiking. He works with a different partner every time, so there is no fixed co-star and no permanent pairing to point to. He simply carries the picture himself. If you want a quiet, grounded Hallmark drama without a snowflake in sight, Thomas is a dependable place to start.
