Taking the Reins2021
Corbin Bernsen is the kind of familiar face Hallmark slots in around the leads rather than out front, and across seven films from 2003 to 2021 he never takes top billing. That is the honest shape of his work here, the seasoned hand in the supporting chair rather than the name on the poster. He keeps things grounded too, playing it straight in conventional, low-key roles rather than chasing anything strange. Only one of the seven is a Christmas title, so he sits outside the usual holiday machine. His clear high point is Love Comes Softly from 2003, which at 7.3 is comfortably his best-reviewed, well ahead of Love's Complicated at 6.5. If you like a recognizable veteran rounding out the cast, he has quietly turned up for years.
