    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist is a bank robber who killed the love interest's husband in the first five minutes.
    • The child repeatedly refers to a gunshot wound as an 'arm hole'.
    • The 'Redemption' involves moving in with the family of the man you murdered.
    • The villain tries to force a child to execute the protagonist with an unloaded gun.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with a violent bank robbery carried out by Henry Myers, Clay, and Mac. During the heist, a man is shot and killed, an act that clearly haunts Henry. Shortly after, Clay and Mac betray Henry, shooting him and leaving him for dead so they can keep the stolen money. Henry is found in the desert by Marilyn and her two children, Will and Laura. They take him to their ranch, where Marilyn nurses his 'arm hole' wound despite her initial distrust of the stranger. As Henry recovers, he begins to bond with the family; he teaches Laura how to play the guitar and tries to provide a fatherly influence for Will, who is consumed by a desire to find and kill the man who murdered his father. The tone shifts when Henry realizes that Marilyn is the widow of the pastor killed during his final robbery. He struggles with his guilt, especially as Marilyn speaks to him about the power of forgiveness and the idea that 'unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.' The tension escalates when Henry saves Laura from a rattlesnake, further cementing his place in their lives, but his past catches up to him when he finds the deceased husband's Bible. Marilyn eventually discovers Henry's identity and confronts him, ordering him to leave. However, Clay and Mac track Henry to the ranch, taking Marilyn and the children hostage to find the hidden money. In a climactic showdown at the local church, Henry chooses to face his former partners rather than run. He is wounded while protecting the family, and the local Sheriff—Marilyn's father-in-law—arrives to assist. In the aftermath, Marilyn and Will choose to forgive Henry. The Sheriff, seeing Henry's genuine change of heart and his role in stopping the outlaws, decides to grant him a second chance at life rather than turning him over to the gallows, allowing Henry to finally find the peace he sought.
