    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist works for a BuzzFeed parody site called 'Quizzer' that takes personality quizzes like 'What kind of elf would you be?' very seriously.
    • The protagonist decides to buy an expensive diamond engagement ring for herself just to 'investigate' its history for a blog post.
    • A professional architect spends his time measuring sidewalks and building festival booths with his bare hands.

    Full story (spoilers)
Kendra works for 'Quizzer,' a website specializing in viral listicles and personality quizzes, but she yearns to write serious human-interest journalism. While searching for her late mother's lost engagement ring at an antique market, she discovers a different ring inscribed 'Forever My Christmas Love, 1948.' Using the jeweler's insignia, she tracks the ring's origin to Pine Grove, Massachusetts. Upon arrival, she meets Michael Jones, a talented architect who recently left his firm and his fiancée, a development heiress, after a public betrayal. Michael initially mistakes Kendra for a gossip reporter looking for an interview about his failed engagement and treats her coldly. However, after Kendra proves the ring belonged to his grandmother, Pearl, Michael agrees to help her look through family archives. They discover that Michael's grandfather, William, was a railroad worker who spent his life savings on the ring to propose to Pearl before her parents could send her away. As Kendra and Michael spend time together decorating the family's general store and baking 'Pearl's Peppermint Whoopie Pies,' they develop a romantic connection. The mystery deepens when they find that Pearl stopped wearing the ring in 1954. Through investigative work in old newspapers and credit union records, they learn that Pearl sold the ring to pay off a loan and save the family store from foreclosure, proving her sacrificial love for William. Conflict arises when Kendra's boss, Linda, publishes Kendra's draft but twists it into a scandalous gossip piece focusing on Michael's past heartbreak. Michael feels betrayed and asks Kendra to leave. To make amends, Kendra quits her job at Quizzer, refuses to let the gossip stand, and gives the true, heartfelt story to the local Pine Grove Gazette. On Christmas Eve, the town's traditional dance night, Michael reads the real article and realizes Kendra's sincerity. He meets her at the dance, where they reconcile. Michael reveals he is moving to Boston to start a new architecture firm, allowing them to continue their relationship while preserving his family's legacy in Pine Grove.
