Spring Breakthrough

Monica Rollins is a dedicated Senior VP at a Chicago foundation who is unexpectedly fired after 20 years because the board wants a 'younger perspective.' Simultaneously, her daughter Vivian, a college senior, announces her engagement to Shawn, a man she has only known for one semester. Monica, joined by her best friend Denise, travels to a luxury resort on the Gulf Coast for spring break to meet Shawn's parents, Joy and Forrest. Monica is immediately skeptical of the union, fearing Vivian is rushing into a mistake, and initiates 'Operation Kibosh' to end the engagement. At the resort, she repeatedly crosses paths with Clark, a laid-back golf pro who is also Shawn's godfather. Clark is a former corporate CFO who abandoned his high-stress career after a health scare, and he challenges Monica's rigid, controlling nature. As Monica tries to manipulate the situation—including calling Vivian's estranged father, Anton, and trying to block wedding venues—she begins to bond with Clark over golf and shared professional backgrounds. The conflict reaches a boiling point when Vivian discovers her mother's interference, leading to a heated confrontation about independence. However, after a friendly poker game where Monica sees Shawn's true character and a heart-to-heart with Clark about his past, Monica realizes she has been projecting her own marital failures onto her daughter. She confesses her job loss to Vivian and gives the couple her blessing. In a surprise twist, the families organize a last-minute wedding at the resort. Monica reconciles with her ex-husband Anton, who arrives to walk Vivian down the aisle. The film concludes with Monica deciding to start her own consulting firm, hiring Clark as her first client, and finally accepting a date with him, choosing to embrace 'beach time' over her old, stressful life.
