    ⭐A miracle💋Ends with a kiss

Why we’d put this one on

Sarah Carter plays an aspiring astronomy professor who, left alone for Christmas by her career-obsessed boyfriend, braves a long bus ride to surprise him and meets a charming Texas cowboy along the way, played by Damon Runyan. At a weirdness of 7 the details are wonderful: the cowboy travels by commercial bus while lugging a full-sized saddle he calls Dale, and the heroine's father throws his back out trying to lasso a decorative reindeer. At a 6.5 it is a cozy, stargazing romance with an old-fashioned soulmate question: the man you planned for, or the one who shares your love of the sky. How that resolves is the point.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with Holly Jensen, a PhD student in Chicago, receiving news that she might secure a permanent teaching position in astronomy. Her joy is dampened when her boyfriend, Adam, reveals he has volunteered to work through Christmas in New York City to land a major client, Vanhorn Software. Adam, who views Christmas as 'just a day on the calendar,' encourages Holly to stay behind, but she decides to surprise him by taking a bus to New York. On the bus, she meets Luke Shetland, a cowboy headed to a New Jersey rodeo. Luke travels with his saddle, named 'Dale,' and the two strike up an unlikely friendship when the bus breaks down in Pennsylvania. Luke rents a truck and offers Holly a ride, leading to a night of stargazing where they bond over the constellation Orion and Luke's Texas-style 'Wild Bill' legends. Upon arriving in New York, Holly brings Luke to her parents' home for dinner. Her mother, Betsy, immediately senses a spark between them, while her father, Ken, is enamored with Luke's cowboy lifestyle. Adam arrives later and is visibly dismissive of Luke, treating him like a 'wayward' relic of a dying profession. The next day, while Adam is busy with work meetings, Holly takes Luke on a tour of the city. They go horseback riding in Central Park—where Luke helps Holly overcome her fear of horses—and ice skating at Rockefeller Center. During their outing, Holly receives a call informing her she has won the prestigious Geneva Lewis Award, a career-defining achievement. Luke is genuinely thrilled for her, while Adam later views her success primarily as something that could facilitate their move to New York for his own career. At a lavish Christmas Eve corporate party hosted by Adam's new client, the tension peaks. Luke teaches the high-society guests how to line dance, charming everyone including the CEO. Feeling threatened by Luke's presence and the 'milestone' of his new contract, Adam impulsively proposes to Holly in front of the entire party without a ring. Holly, caught in the moment and feeling pressured, says yes. However, the engagement quickly sours as they argue about their future; Adam expects Holly to abandon her Chicago opportunities to follow him to New York, dismissing her passion for astronomy as 'settling.' Realizing Adam doesn't truly love or understand her, Holly breaks off the engagement, explaining that she wants an 'extraordinary, passionate' love rather than a logical arrangement. In the finale, Luke is encouraged by his brother Bull to 'cowboy up' and fight for Holly. In a grand romantic gesture, Luke rides a horse through the streets to Holly’s parents' house. He confesses that he knew he loved her the second he saw her on the bus. Holly realizes Luke is her true soulmate, and the film ends with the two of them riding off together on horseback, finally sharing a kiss under the stars.
