    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • A secret society of retired professionals (dentists, cops, professors) who spend their time hanging out in a magic shop dressed as Santa Claus.
    • The 'Santa Distraction' tactic where seven identical Santas are used to confuse international security agents in an art gallery.
    • A magician named 'The Great Matriando' who uses magic tricks to solve mundane problems like finding lost items.

Why we’d put this one on

A Roman Holiday riff with a wonderfully silly streak, and a weirdness of 8 to match. Briana Evigan plays a princess who ditches her rigid royal itinerary to experience a New York Christmas as a regular person, and gets help from Paul Campbell's kind contractor who has no idea who she is. The bonkers part is the supporting world: a secret society of retired professionals who hang around a magic shop dressed as Santa, deployed at one point as a seven-Santa distraction to fool security agents. Charming leads, a runaway-royal premise, and just enough chaos to keep it fun.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with a flashback of young Princess Katherine and her mother, who gifts her an antique camera and emphasizes that while kingdoms fade, love is eternal. In the present day, Katherine is in New York City for a grueling diplomatic tour managed by her strict Aunt Margaret. Feeling suffocated by her schedule and the pressure to be a perfect royal, Katherine visits her mother’s former attorney, George, and subsequently slips away from her security detail to explore the city alone. Her adventure takes a turn when a con artist steals her purse and her beloved camera. Jack Langdon, a former real estate broker turned building renovator, witnesses the theft and offers help. Katherine, using the alias 'Katie Holiday,' is hesitant to involve the police and accepts Jack's help instead. Jack introduces Katie to his world, including a group of retired professionals who dress as Santas for charity, led by Harry, a whimsical magician. Katie finds the warmth and authenticity she has been craving, bonding with Jack over their shared love of photography and the city's history. Meanwhile, Aunt Margaret hires a specialized security expert named Simon to find the princess quietly, while Ross, an ambitious TV reporter and the boyfriend of Jack’s sister Emma, begins investigating rumors of the 'missing princess.' As Jack and Katie grow closer, Jack encourages her to follow her heart and stop being someone she doesn't want to be, unaware that she is literally a princess. The conflict peaks when Ross discovers Katie's true identity and attempts to ambush her with a camera crew at Harry's magic shop to secure a career-making scoop. This betrayal hurts Emma and forces Katie to flee. Jack eventually learns the truth but remains supportive, helping Katie fulfill her wish of visiting a prestigious art gallery after hours. In the climax, as Simon and his security team close in on the gallery, Jack uses a 'Santa distraction'—a group of men dressed as Santa Claus—to help Katie escape and have one last moment of freedom. Katherine ultimately realizes she must return to Montsaurai for the annual Christmas Festival to fulfill her duties to her people. The film concludes on Christmas Day in Montsaurai, where Katherine is presiding over the festivities. Jack arrives unexpectedly, and they reunite, promising to spend their future Christmases together, successfully blending her royal life with her personal happiness.
