    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Angie Dove, a famous Philadelphia matchmaker, hosting her TV show 'The MatchMaker,' where she facilitates a successful on-air proposal between wealthy developer Aaron Scheller and hair stylist Emma Patterson. Angie's success is built on her uncanny ability to read people through 'personality indicators' like lip shapes and body language. At Aaron and Emma's engagement party, the celebratory mood shifts when Angie notices Emma looking troubled and realizes she has removed her engagement ring. Shortly after, Emma is found dead at the bottom of a staircase, having been stabbed with a letter opener. Detective Kyle Carter, a no-nonsense investigator who was trained by Angie's retired detective father, Nick Colomba, takes the case. Because Aaron fled the scene in a state of shock, Carter identifies him as the prime suspect. Angie, convinced of Aaron's innocence because they were a 'perfect match,' begins her own investigation. She discovers several subplots: Aaron's son Declan has gambling debts and was skimming money; Emma's ex-boyfriend Bo was paid to harass the couple; and Aaron's CFO, Phillip Price, was embezzling over $100,000. Angie also learns that Aaron's attorney, Rose Clarke, and his COO, Rachel Turner, are both former flames. The investigation hits a turning point when Angie deciphers Emma's phone passcode—1221—based on a line from her wedding vows. This reveals a threatening text Emma received just before her death. In the climax, Angie realizes that Rachel Turner is the true antagonist. Rachel had been obsessed with Aaron for years, even framing him for infidelity during his first marriage to drive his wife away. When her attempt to use Bo to break up Aaron and Emma failed, she killed Emma in a fit of jealous rage. Rachel attempts to kill Aaron and Angie, but Detective Carter arrives just in time to assist Angie in subduing her. The film concludes with Aaron being cleared, the show being renewed for another season, and a burgeoning partnership between Angie and Detective Carter.
