    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens on the Emerald Sun cruise ship in Passau, Germany, where Sarah Matthews is struggling to balance her high-pressure marketing job with a vacation intended to support her mother, Julia. Julia is a former Broadway chorus member who has been invited by her friend Stanley to perform in a revival show in Budapest, though she is plagued by nerves. Sarah meets Jack Wilson, a newspaper editor from Connecticut, in the ship's business center after a series of spotty Wi-Fi issues and humorous autocorrect fails. They soon realize they are both on the cruise with their widowed parents—Jack with his father Andre, a retired band director. Sarah and Jack decide to play matchmaker for their parents, orchestrating a 'parent-trap' that begins with a disastrous dinner where Andre accidentally spills wine on Julia’s vintage Halston dress. Despite the rocky start, the parents begin to bond over their shared experiences of grief and their mutual love for music. In Vienna, the group visits a thermal spa and the National Library, where Sarah helps Jack arrange a special birthday tribute for Andre by having his name added to a historical book of marching band music. Meanwhile, Sarah’s boss, Patricia, constantly interrupts the trip with demands, threatening Sarah's promotion if she doesn't land a new account. Sarah takes a risk by cold-emailing a CEO in Budapest with a fresh marketing pitch. As the ship reaches Budapest, Jack confesses his feelings for Sarah during a romantic dinner, but Sarah initially pulls back, feeling she cannot balance a relationship with her career goals. Julia suffers a panic attack before the show, but with encouragement from Andre and Sarah, she steps in for a sick lead and delivers a triumphant solo performance. Inspired by her mother’s bravery, Sarah decides to quit her job under Patricia to start her own marketing firm. The film concludes with Jack and Sarah reconciling on the ship's deck, realizing they want to be together back in Connecticut, while their parents agree to remain close friends and potential future companions.
