    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Jenna Wagner, a former prima ballerina who now runs a ballet studio in the town of Avon. She is facing financial pressure due to a rent increase and the loss of students to competitive dance teams. Meanwhile, Ryan 'Coop' Cooper, a star player for the New York Rangers, is struggling to recover from a high-ankle sprain that threatens his career. Ryan's agent, Terry, who is also Jenna's cousin, suggests a radical rehab plan: ballet therapy. Ryan reluctantly agrees and travels to Avon, where he accidentally breaks into Jenna's main house thinking it is the rental, leading to a prickly first meeting. Jenna agrees to train him for 'plenty' of money to save her studio. As training begins, Ryan is humbled when Jenna places him in a class with five-year-olds to learn basic fundamentals. He suffers from intense soreness in muscles he never knew he had, but Jenna explains that these 'smaller muscles' provide the foundation for his ankle's stability. They bond over 'hygge'—a Danish concept of coziness Jenna's grandparents championed—and a competitive game of air hockey where Jenna proves her athletic prowess. Ryan also begins to integrate into the community, helping a local boy named Felix improve his hockey skills by teaching him to relax his grip and use the nonsense focus word 'flump.' Conflict arises when Ryan pushes himself too hard on the ice against Jenna's advice, risking re-injury. Jenna reveals her own trauma: her career ended not just because of an injury, but because her partner and boss replaced her both professionally and romantically. Ryan realizes he has no identity outside of hockey, while Jenna realizes she has been playing it too safe. Their relationship deepens during a power outage where they share a 'storm night' in Jenna's living room. Just before Jenna's big Winterfest performance, Terry arrives with news that the Rangers want Ryan back immediately for a physical and a game. Ryan has to leave abruptly, missing Jenna's show. He plays in New York and scores the winning goal in overtime, but realizes his heart is in Avon. In the climax, Ryan takes the team owner's helicopter back to Avon, arriving just as the ballet performance ends. He takes the stage to give a public speech about how Jenna made him a better, more balanced person. He declares his love, promising to return to her during every off-season, and the two share their first kiss.
