    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist hits her head and wakes up in a honeymoon suite with a stranger.
    • A wedding themed entirely around black-and-white cow prints with cheese grater party favors.
    • The 'Scottish' wedding for a woman with no Scottish ties who just thinks kilts are 'cool'.
    • The reveal that a rugged man is the secret author of 'The Wayward Wench' and other steamy romance novels.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Laurel Haverford working at her best friend Brooke's wedding, where she is reminded of her status as the last single woman in her social circle. Her grandmother, Rose, who raised her after her parents died, is determined to find Laurel a husband and attempts to set her up with Dr. Evan Cooper, a handsome physician who happens to be a botany expert. Simultaneously, Laurel meets Stephen Banks, the best man at another wedding, who charms her with a humorous toast about a friend catching fire from a tiki torch. After Laurel accidentally hits her head and ends up in the honeymoon suite, she and Stephen share a romantic dance, sparking an immediate connection. As Laurel begins dating both men, the contrast between them becomes clear. Evan is intellectual, straightforward, and honest about his intentions, even telling his mother about Laurel early on. Stephen, however, is elusive; he refuses to discuss his writing and seems to be constantly 'researching' for his books. Rose, fearing Laurel will choose a 'struggling writer' over a stable doctor, begins to meddle. She spots Stephen with a sophisticated woman and assumes he is cheating. Rose eventually visits Stephen privately and lies to him, claiming that Laurel is practically engaged to Evan to discourage him from pursuing her. This causes Stephen to pull away, leaving Laurel confused and heartbroken. Meanwhile, Laurel deals with 'Bridezilla' clients, including Kristen, who demands an elaborate Scottish-themed wedding despite having no Scottish heritage. The conflict reaches a peak when Evan receives a dream job offer in South America and proposes to Laurel, asking her to move with him. Laurel also discovers that the woman Stephen was seen with is Elsie, the publisher for the famous romance novelist 'Victoria Darling.' Laurel assumes Elsie is Stephen's girlfriend until she reads a Victoria Darling novel and finds the prose strangely familiar. In the climax, Laurel realizes she cannot marry Evan because the 'spark' isn't there. She rejects his proposal and goes to find Stephen. She discovers that Stephen is actually the ghostwriter for Victoria Darling; he writes the books while Elsie acts as the public face because the industry believes men can't write romance. With the secrets revealed, Laurel and Stephen reconcile. The film ends with their own wedding, where Laurel finally gets her 'happily ever after' surrounded by her friends, her grandmother, and even the 'Bridezilla' Kristen, who has become a satisfied client.
