    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist uses a forensic fingerprinting kit he received as a 9-year-old to solve a 30-year-old cold case.
    • A wealthy socialite fakes his death to live as a local janitor/handyman in the same town where his family's mansion is located.
    • The 'fallen angel' metaphor is applied to the heat rising from car engines.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Terry McQuinn reflecting on his childhood in Rose Point, Maine, where his father, Mac, worked as a caretaker for elite summer mansions. On his ninth birthday, Terry received a fingerprinting kit, a moment that coincided with a tragic car accident involving the wealthy Charles Wentworth. Decades later, Terry is a cynical Los Angeles lawyer who returns to Maine only to bury his father and sell the family property. His plans change when he meets Katherine Wentworth, who has returned to 'Serenity Cottage' for the first time since she was four years old. Katherine, a social worker, is accompanied by her adopted daughter Olivia, who is blind. As Terry helps Katherine open the cottage for Christmas, he begins to suspect that the local carousel operator, Warren, and a mysterious handyman are connected to the Wentworth family's dark history. Through old photographs saved by his father and the use of his childhood fingerprinting kit, Terry realizes that Charles Wentworth did not die years ago as the public believed; instead, consumed by guilt over a fatal accident that killed a woman and child, he has been living in hiding. Terry struggles with his own resentment toward his father while falling for Katherine. The conflict peaks when Terry reveals the truth to Katherine, who initially feels betrayed by the deception. However, the revelation allows for a poignant reconciliation between Katherine and her father, Charles. Terry, realizing his corporate life in L.A. is empty, abandons his high-stakes contracts to return to Maine on Christmas Eve, where he and Katherine confess their love for one another, finally breaking the cycle of isolation that haunted both their fathers.
