Curious Caterer: Grilling Season

The film begins with a foreboding sequence showing a gas leak and a massive explosion at the home of Susie Craig. Jumping back in time, Goldy Berry is seen catering Susie’s birthday party, where tensions are high among the guests. Susie’s neighbor, Dr. Dennis Lockwood, is feuding with her over neighborhood association rules, while her boyfriend Richard (Goldy's ex-husband) is jealous of her continued friendship with her ex-husband Hal. Adding to the drama, Detective Tom Shultz’s ex-wife, Jessamyn, arrives unexpectedly, claiming to be in town on business. During the party, Goldy overhears developer Kenny Zox making vague threats against Susie regarding a failed business deal. After the guests leave, Susie is killed, and her brand-new grill is rigged to explode. Detective Tom Shultz and the medical examiner determine that Susie was actually strangled with fluorocarbon fishing line before the explosion occurred. Because Richard uses that specific lime-green line and had a public argument with Susie, he is arrested for the murder. Goldy, refusing to believe Richard is a killer, begins her own investigation. She discovers that Susie had hired a private investigator named Fran Markesian, who is later found murdered in a river. Goldy’s search leads her to a high-end clothing store called Posh, where she finds a hidden computer belonging to Fran. The files reveal that Dr. Dennis Lockwood was performing illegal surgeries for the mafia to maintain his lifestyle. Dennis captures Goldy at his home, intending to stage a murder-suicide involving her and Richard. He confesses to killing Susie because she discovered his secret and killing Fran to cover his tracks. Tom arrives just in time to save Goldy, engaging in a tense standoff where Dennis attempts to use a lethal injection. Dennis is apprehended, Richard is exonerated, and Goldy and Tom's relationship remains strong as they process the trauma of the case.
