    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • Gloria appears in a 2001 newspaper clipping looking exactly the same age as she does in 2021.
    • Gloria drives a 1956 Fairlane that is an exact replica of Nana's late husband's car.
    • Gloria knows the names of Nana's friends (Art, Shirley, Grace) without being introduced.
    • A salesgirl named Mercy (the name of Gloria's deceased daughter) gives Will advice but the manager claims no one by that name works there.
    • The 'Mrs. Miracle' character is an established Hallmark supernatural entity who essentially 'gaslights' people into being happy.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Laurel, a dedicated teacher, leading a group of first-graders in a holiday rehearsal. Despite her outward cheer, she is deeply burdened by debt from IVF treatments and the emotional trauma of losing a foster son, Jonathan, whose birth mother reclaimed him a year prior. Her grandmother, Helen (Nana), is also struggling, having lost her husband Robert and suffering from a sprained wrist. Laurel's friend Monique suggests hiring a caregiver, leading to the arrival of Gloria Merkel from 'Caring Heart Angels.' Gloria, who Nana suspects is a literal angel, immediately begins making 'miracles' happen, starting with baking perfect snickerdoodles and driving a 1956 Fairlane—the exact car Nana’s late husband owned. Gloria encourages Nana to re-engage with her friends at the senior center and go ballroom dancing, which helps Nana begin to heal from her grief. Meanwhile, Laurel’s estranged father arrives in town, ostensibly for business, but actually to apologize for his past emotional absence. He returns a 'wonky' angel ornament that belonged to Laurel’s mother, a gesture Gloria seemingly orchestrated. The central conflict intensifies when Will, feeling the house is ready for a child again, secretly puts their names back on the foster care list. When a social worker calls Laurel about a newborn, she is overwhelmed by fear of another loss and tells Will they should separate so he can find someone who can give him the family he deserves. Gloria intervenes, sharing the story of her own lost daughter, Mercy, and explaining that loving a child—even temporarily—is a gift. She helps Laurel realize that her heart has enough room for both the memory of Jonathan and a new child. On Christmas Eve, after a candlelight mass where Laurel hears the name 'Mercy' in a hymn and realizes Gloria's supernatural nature, the couple receives a call for a six-year-old foster girl named Kelly. The film concludes one year later, showing a thriving household with two foster children, Kelly and Bobby, as Gloria moves on to her next assignment with a new family.
