    • The 'Oath of Honor' involving crossing hearts and hoping to die over a waterfall location
    • The 'Twisted Sister' rock formation used as a navigational landmark
    • The specific plot point that 212 degrees is the 'magic' compass heading because it is the temperature at which water boils

    Full story (spoilers)
Amy Atwater works as a software layout designer for Explorer Global Magazine but dreams of being a professional photographer. When the magazine's lead photographer is injured, Amy convinces her demanding boss, Camilla, to let her shoot a feature on waterfalls. Amy travels to a mountain lodge where she meets Leo, the friendly receptionist, and Mark North, a local tour guide and single father. Mark is initially skeptical of Amy's 'city girl' hiking gear but agrees to help her find the more elusive waterfalls on his day off, provided his daughter Kyra can join them. During their hikes, Amy bonds with Kyra, teaching her about photography and helping her navigate a crush on a boy named Hunter. Mark and Amy's relationship deepens as they share their pasts; Mark reveals he left a high-paying corporate job to find himself in nature. Mark eventually trusts Amy enough to take her to the 'Angel Falls,' a secret location, but only after she swears an 'oath of honor' to never reveal its location. He also tells her the legend of the mythical Redwood Falls, which can supposedly be found by following a compass at 212 degrees from a rock formation called 'Twisted Sister.' Amy captures stunning photos and sends them to her magazine. However, back at the office, the layout editor and Camilla include the geotagged coordinates of Angel Falls in the article against Amy's wishes. When the article goes live, the local community feels betrayed, and Mark blames Amy for breaking her oath. Devastated, Amy quits her job and heads into the woods alone to find the mythical Redwood Falls using Mark's '212 degrees' clue. Kyra eventually overhears Amy's boss on the phone and realizes Amy was not responsible for the leak. She tells Mark, who rushes into the wilderness to find Amy. He discovers her at the breathtaking Redwood Falls, where they reconcile. Mark admits that while the waterfall is beautiful, his favorite place on earth is wherever Amy is.
