    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The 'Godwink' concept: the film posits that extreme coincidences are divine messages.
    • The statistical impossibility of the two leads living on the same street, going to the same wedding, and their uncles being long-lost best friends from a boat 50 years ago.
    • The inclusion of a serious chronic illness (MS) diagnosis as a primary plot obstacle in a Hallmark movie.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with Alice Marina, a dedicated manager at her family's Minneapolis retail store, feeling pressured by her mother Olga to find love. Meanwhile, Jack Totah, a successful medical sales representative based in Wisconsin, is up for a major promotion that would move him back to Minneapolis permanently. Their paths cross when Jack accidentally enters the 'Christmas Schooner Gala' instead of his own corporate holiday party. Alice realizes he is in the wrong place, but the two share an immediate connection. In a massive coincidence, they discover they are both heading to the same wedding at the Silver Center Resort in Iowa the next day. Jack offers Alice a ride, and their six-hour journey is extended by a flat tire, which they turn into a playful afternoon of making snow angels and sharing stories about their late fathers. At the wedding, the chemistry between them grows, but Alice begins to notice troubling physical symptoms, including numbness in her fingers and a tendency to trip. Despite this, they share a romantic dance and realize they live on the same street in Minneapolis. Upon returning home, Alice visits a doctor and receives a devastating diagnosis: Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Overwhelmed and remembering Jack’s trauma of losing his brother to a brain tumor and his parents in an accident, Alice decides to break up with him to spare him further grief. She tells him she isn't ready for a relationship, using the family store's expansion as an excuse. While Alice struggles with her health, a subplot involves the family store, Marina's, which is at risk of being overshadowed by a corporate coffee chain. Alice’s cousin Mickey and his wife Sally Ann want to expand the business, and Alice eventually realizes her true dream is to become a counselor rather than run the retail shop. The climax occurs when Jack’s uncle Nabeh and Alice’s uncle Charlie meet. In the film's biggest 'godwink,' it is revealed that the two men were best friends who immigrated from Lebanon and Italy on the same boat 50 years ago but lost contact at Ellis Island. This revelation, combined with Mickey telling Jack the truth about Alice's diagnosis, leads Jack to stage a 'Hail Mary' romantic gesture. He uses a series of signs to tell Alice that he wants to be with her through the easy and the hard times. The film concludes with Jack taking the Minneapolis job, the uncles reuniting their 50-year friendship, and Alice pursuing her dream of counseling while managing her MS with Jack by her side.
