Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Honeymoon, Honeymurder

The film begins with Aurora 'Roe' Teagarden and Nick Miller preparing for their honeymoon in Paris, only to have their flight delayed by heavy fog. To make use of their time off, they accept a friend's offer to stay at a cabin in Ridge Bay. While exploring the lake in a rental boat, they discover a drifting vessel containing the body of Clifford Minton, a salesman from Lawrenceton. Chief Lynn Liggett arrives to investigate, discovering Minton was shot. Aurora, unable to resist a mystery, begins investigating the victim's background. She learns Minton was involved in a high-profile, bitter divorce from Terry Hall, a former attorney who lives right next door to the cabin. Terry's son, Jacob, also harbored deep resentment toward his former stepfather. The investigation expands to include Donald Heller, a local boat rental owner with a criminal record who had been feuding with Minton, and Russ Slocum, Minton's boss, who was rumored to be being blackmailed by the victim regarding the origins of his company's funding. The tension escalates when a sniper fires shots through the cabin window while Aurora and Nick are eating dinner, narrowly missing them. Terry Hall becomes the prime suspect when the murder weapon is found in her home, but Aurora suspects Terry is being framed—possibly by herself to protect her son, or by the real killer. Aurora eventually realizes that Sharon Patterson, Slocum's assistant, was the one arguing with Minton at his motel. Sharon, feeling used and humiliated by Minton's refusal to have a real relationship with her, killed him and attempted to frame Terry. In a high-stakes climax, Sharon kidnaps Terry at gunpoint, leading to a car chase where Aurora and Nick corner her. Sharon is arrested, and Aurora and Nick finally head off to their real honeymoon in Paris.
