    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist eats 24 eggs, a pound of sausage, and half a chicken in one sitting while recovering from a gunshot wound.
    • The romantic tension is built around the linguistic rules of 19th-century Quaker pronouns (thee/thou).
    • A gunfighter uses a Bible as a prop to intimidate people.
    • The 'bad man' protagonist is essentially a 19th-century action hero in a Hallmark setting.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with Quirt Evans, a legendary gunfighter, being shot during a confrontation. He is discovered by Thomas and Temperance, a father and daughter belonging to the Society of Friends (Quakers). Despite his injuries, Quirt insists on being taken to a telegraph office where he holds the operator at gunpoint to register a mineral claim in his name before collapsing. The Quakers take him into their home, where Temperance meticulously cares for him through a period of feverish delirium. During his recovery, Quirt consumes a massive meal of twenty-four eggs and a pound of sausage, a feat that shocks the family. As he heals, a romantic tension develops between Quirt and Temperance; she explains that her people use the terms 'thee' and 'thou' only for those they love, eventually using these terms with him. The peace is interrupted by Loredo Stevens, the man responsible for Quirt's injury, who attempts to intimidate Quirt into selling his claim. Quirt successfully bluffs Loredo with an empty pistol, securing a partial payment in gold. Meanwhile, Quirt uses his reputation to intimidate the local Mayor into stopping the harassment of the Quaker community, an act the Quakers mistakenly attribute to the power of prayer. The conflict escalates when Loredo and his gang attempt to burn down the Quaker home to kill Quirt, resulting in Temperance becoming gravely ill from smoke inhalation. Driven by a desire for vengeance for both the attack and the past murder of his mentor Walt Enis, Quirt prepares for a final showdown in town. However, influenced by Temperance's devotion to non-violence, Quirt chooses to face Loredo unarmed. The Marshal intervenes just as Loredo attempts to shoot the defenseless Quirt. In the end, Quirt realizes that his life of violence is over; he inherits a fortune from his mineral claim but chooses to settle down into a peaceful life of farming with Temperance.
