    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • A toy company running a national contest to find a widow a husband as a marketing stunt
    • The protagonist essentially extorting a corporation for half a million dollars to participate in a dating show
    • The villain's 'evil' plan is specifically sending a child to a prestigious boarding school
    • The corporate heir buying out an entire restaurant just to avoid 'the help' and other customers

    Full story (spoilers)
Sara Armstrong is a widow living in New York City, dedicating her life to her ten-year-old son, Jesse, and the Peter Armstrong Community Center, named after her late husband. The center is in financial peril as the landlord, Mr. Gidian, plans to sell the building for $750,000. Meanwhile, Toyco International is struggling with their 'Morph Man' toy line and launches the 'All I Want for Christmas' contest to boost their image. Jesse secretly enters the contest, filming a video where he asks for a husband for his mother so she can be 'complete' again. Toyco executives Erin Davis and Roger Nelson see the marketing potential in the 'widow of a hero cop' narrative and select Jesse as the winner. Sara is initially outraged by the public exploitation of her personal life, but she strikes a deal: she will participate in the dating marathon if Toyco donates the $555,000 she needs to save the community center. As the contest progresses, Sara dates various men, but a paparazzi photo of her and Roger leads the company to pivot the campaign into a romance between the two of them. Roger, though well-meaning, is out of touch with Sara's reality, buying out entire restaurants for dates and suggesting they hire nannies. Sara's neighbor and best friend, Ben, who has helped raise Jesse, realizes he is in love with Sara but feels he cannot compete with Roger's wealth. The conflict peaks when Roger proposes to Sara on television and she accepts to fulfill the 'Christmas miracle' the public expects. However, the relationship sours when Roger reveals he has already enrolled Jesse in a distant boarding school to 'make a man out of him.' Realizing Roger doesn't understand her or her son, Sara breaks off the engagement and returns the ring. On Christmas Eve, during midnight mass, Ben joins Sara and Jesse in the pews. They confess their feelings for one another, realizing they have been a family all along. The film concludes with the trio together, finally feeling 'complete.'
