Opening
Brooklyn, a business reporter who wants to be taken seriously as a lifestyle storyteller, gets reprimanded for adding too much personality to her segment. At the same time, the film introduces Jared Troy and his hot air balloon business, Love in the Air, which frames romance as part of the ballooning experience.
Inciting incident
Mary sends Brooklyn to Albuquerque to cover the International Balloon Fiesta on short notice, giving her a major opportunity to prove herself. Brooklyn and her videographer Elise head to New Mexico and arrange to stay with Jared, the balloon pilot they will profile.
Rising action
Brooklyn and Jared begin spending time together as she covers the festival, meets his parents, and learns about the balloon community. Their banter, local food, and sightseeing create chemistry, while Jared makes it clear he does not want his personal life included in the story.
Midpoint
Brooklyn conquers her fear of heights by going up in a hot air balloon with Jared, who calmly talks her through her panic. The shared experience deepens their bond, and they kiss, confirming that their connection is becoming romantic.
Conflict escalates
Brooklyn learns Jared’s heartbreak history: his ex Amber left him for his former partner Turner, and he shut down emotionally afterward. Mary keeps pressuring Brooklyn to turn Jared into a cynical story angle, and Jared eventually realizes Brooklyn may be gathering material for her boss.
Climax
Brooklyn refuses to exploit Jared and instead creates a heartfelt segment about passion, fear, and love. The piece goes viral, Mary offers her the New Mexico job, and Brooklyn returns to Jared to tell him the truth and fight for a future with him.
Resolution
Brooklyn accepts the New Mexico position, Jared admits she has changed his life, and he proposes during his parents’ vow renewal celebration. Brooklyn says yes, and the story closes with the family celebrating love, courage, and a new home together.
