    The premise

Eddie Avedon's shot at a prestigious movie part, his ticket out of playing Mulligan the Bunny on a children's TV show, is ruined after a car accident with single mother Annie Benchley that keeps haunting him. The part is promised to Avedon's lousy house-mate Scott Dunbar. Yet Eddie becomes friends with Annie and her young daughter, avid Mulligan-fan Taylor, and even sticks his neck out to arrange eye surgery for her.

    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist's career involves 'marinating in a pool of sweat' inside a giant rabbit costume.
    • A physical fight at a children's birthday party between a man in a rabbit suit and a plastic surgeon dressed as a clown.
    • The roommate's catchphrase 'Boom goes the dynamite' is used repeatedly as a serious career milestone.
    • The protagonist sells his entire house to pay for a waitress's daughter's surgery after knowing her for a very short time.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Annie Benchley, a widowed waitress, struggling to raise her young daughter Taylor, who suffers from a degenerative eye condition. Meanwhile, Eddie Avedon is a frustrated actor working as 'Mulligan the Rabbit' on a hit kids' show, a job he loathes because of the heat and the lack of professional respect. The two meet when they are involved in a fender bender; Eddie is rude and dismissive, leading Annie to take his license and registration. Because he lacks his documents, Eddie is later arrested during a traffic stop and misses a career-defining audition with director Blake Levans. After being released from jail, Eddie tracks Annie down to get his documents back and pay for the car repairs. He eventually meets Taylor and is moved by her condition and her genuine love for Mulligan the Rabbit. He arranges for Taylor to visit the set, though he keeps his identity as the rabbit a secret. As Eddie and Annie begin to fall for each other, Eddie learns that Taylor needs an expensive surgery to prevent total blindness. He attempts to get funding through the 'It's a Miracle' foundation, but the waitlist is years long. At Taylor's birthday party, a conflict erupts between Eddie (dressed in a backup Mulligan suit) and Jeffrey, a plastic surgeon and family friend dressed as a clown, leading to Eddie's identity being revealed and Annie feeling betrayed by his perceived lies. Unbeknownst to Annie, Eddie sells his house and assets to secretly provide the $400,000 needed for the surgery, telling the foundation to claim a 'cancellation' occurred. Eddie then leaves for Hawaii to take a minor role in a film. The surgery is a success. Years later, it is revealed that Eddie and Annie have married and had a child together, and Eddie has found success both as an actor and a father, finally embracing the joy he once lacked.
