    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • Naima claims to have a photographic memory to win a $5 bet about jazz.
    • The 'Together we make a palindrome' dialogue exchange is nonsensical in context.
    • A high-stakes historical music industry investigation is conducted by a zero-pay intern.
    • The museum curator suggests Naima wear a donated, un-cataloged vintage dress to a formal gala.

    Full story (spoilers)
Naima Williams arrives in Nashville to pursue her PhD and intern at the National Museum of African-American Music (NMAAM). During a museum tour, she meets Damian, whom she initially mistakes for a simple volunteer after she corrects his jazz history facts. They form a connection over a $5 bet regarding Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie. Naima's research takes a personal turn when she discovers a vintage dress and a record of the song 'Lonely As A Cloud' by the Loving Cubs, which was her grandmother Millie's favorite. She notices a photograph at a local diner showing her grandmother and the diner's owner, Olivia, standing in front of the Loving Cubs, wearing the same dress Naima found. As Naima digs deeper, she encounters resistance from Olivia and Dexter, the diner owners, and learns that Damian is actually the son of Franklin Berryhall, the legendary producer who founded Berryhall Records. Naima suspects that the Loving Cubs did not actually sing their famous hit. Her investigation leads her to Tubby’s record shop, where she hears rumors of 'The Daffodil Girls,' a group of backup singers who were the true talent behind the label's early success. Damian is caught between his loyalty to his father’s legacy and his growing feelings for Naima. Olivia eventually reveals the truth: she, Millie, and a friend named May were the Daffodil Girls. They recorded 'Lonely As A Cloud' in a basement, but because Millie’s father was a strict pastor who disapproved of 'secular' music, they were forced to stay in the shadows. Franklin Berryhall, desperate for a hit, paid them $500 each to stay quiet and gave the song to the Loving Cubs, who were more 'marketable' but less talented. Naima and Damian's relationship is tested when Damian discovers the session tapes are missing from the Berryhall vault. However, after a confrontation with his son, Franklin Berryhall decides to rectify his past mistakes. At a museum gala honoring his 60-year career, Franklin publicly admits that the Daffodil Girls were the true singers of 'Lonely As A Cloud.' He announces he has purchased the building for Olivia’s diner to save it from closure, established scholarships for the heirs of the Daffodil Girls, and appoints Damian as the new president of Berryhall Records. The film concludes with a time jump showing Naima as a successful author of a bestseller about the Daffodil Girls, now engaged to Damian.
