After their widower father moves to a new town and sets up a computerized matchmaking business, two girls set out to find a stepmother. They create a dating application in the company computer for him. Then they cull through all new women applicants to hand pick the perfect woman for him and force the computer to match them. They don't know the woman they picked is the proprietor of the old-fashioned matchmaking service in town who is planning to prove the computer matching is incompetent.

    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist's best friend is a nun who actively helps her navigate the dating world and encourages her to 'let her hair down.'
    • The plot involves a 'foot fetishist' date mentioned in a professional blog context.
    • The mother marries a man she met on a cruise at an Elvis chapel in Vegas within days of meeting him.
    • The daughters use corporate-level compatibility software to 'hunt' for a stepmother.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins on New Year's Eve with Susan Flowers, a successful but single matchmaker who runs 'Hearts & Flowers,' celebrating her clients' successes while feeling the sting of her own loneliness. She makes a written resolution: to find the perfect man and share a kiss at midnight by the next New Year's Eve. Meanwhile, Josh Sherman, the CEO of the corporate dating giant Romance-4-You.com, is a widower who has neglected his social life to focus on his two daughters, Jennifer and Cassie. The girls, realizing their father needs a partner, secretly use his company's compatibility software to find him a match, eventually selecting Susan's profile. Susan, however, has only joined the site to conduct 'undercover research' for an exposé on her blog, 'Susan's Heart Hints,' intending to prove that computers cannot replace the human touch in matchmaking. Josh's daughters orchestrate an 'accidental' meeting at the Tumbleweed Stables, where Susan is visiting and Cassie is riding her favorite horse, Snowflake. Josh and Susan hit it off immediately, bonded by their shared love for an obscure 80s band called The Golden Owls. As they begin dating, Susan's mother, Kay, returns from a cruise with a boisterous new husband named Arthur, whose loud personality and bad jokes initially grate on Susan. This subplot mirrors Susan's own struggle to open her heart to someone unexpected. As Susan and Josh grow closer, the girls struggle to keep their meddling a secret, and Josh remains vague about his 'diverse business interests' to avoid professional conflict. The relationship hits a breaking point when Susan discovers Josh's true identity as the CEO of the company she is publicly attacking. Feeling betrayed and believing Josh was using her for corporate sabotage, she severs ties. The conflict reaches a climax when Cassie, distraught over the breakup and the news that her favorite horse Snowflake is being retired, runs away to the stables at night. She suffers a head injury after a fall, leading to a tense hospital vigil. At the hospital, Susan's friend Maureen (a nun who provides surprisingly pragmatic dating advice) helps Susan see Josh's character. The daughters finally confess their scheme to Josh, exonerating him of any deceptive intent toward Susan. The film concludes one year later on New Year's Eve, where Susan and Josh are married in a ceremony that fulfills her resolution, proving that while technology found the match, it was the personal connection that sealed it.
