    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • Steve's parents are literally named Mr. and Mrs. Claus and the father dresses as Santa constantly.
    • The plot hinges on a 'magical toaster' joke regarding Megan's ex-fiancé.
    • Frank's 'wooer' dialogue is unusually self-aware for the genre.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Megan working at her coffee shop in the wake of a broken engagement; ironically, the current day was her original wedding date. Her regular customer and close friend, Frank, shows her a 50-year-old photo of his first love, Claire Collins. Seeing Frank's lingering affection, Megan uses her investigative skills to track Claire to the town of Pinesville. Despite Frank's initial hesitation, Megan convinces him to join her on a road trip to find her. Upon arriving in Pinesville, Megan has a literal run-in with Steve, a stressed lodge owner who accidentally spills her coffee while distracted by a phone call. They later realize Steve owns the lodge where Megan and Frank are staying. As Frank and Megan search for Claire, they discover she is volunteering at a local retirement community. When Frank finally sees her, he panics and pretends he is there to visit a woman named 'Ethel.' Megan encourages Frank to 'woo' Claire properly, leading to a caroling session outside Claire's home. However, the plan backfires when the song 'I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm' triggers a painful memory for Claire, who accuses Frank of breaking her heart and refuses to see him. Frank eventually confesses to Megan that Claire's father had convinced him he wasn't good enough for her, leading Frank to join the army and abandon the relationship out of a misplaced sense of unworthiness. Parallel to Frank's story, Megan finds herself helping Steve with a veterans' luncheon after his caterer cancels. This experience reignites Megan's dormant passion for cooking, which she had set aside after her father's illness. Steve, a corporate hospitality executive from Dallas, begins to question his own career path while spending time with Megan. In a final attempt to make amends, Frank leaves a letter and a handmade engagement ring he crafted for Claire 50 years ago at her doorstep. As Megan and Frank prepare to leave town, they find Steve's lost dog, Max, on the road. Returning the dog leads to a final confrontation where Claire, having read the letter and seen the ring, realizes the truth behind Frank's departure. The two generations of lovers reconcile: Frank and Claire share a long-awaited dance, while Megan and Steve acknowledge their feelings, with Megan considering a permanent move to Pinesville to open a restaurant.
