    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The theft of a cookie recipe is treated with the gravity of a high-stakes political thriller.
    • The IT guy, Calvin, uses walkie-talkies and code names like 'Mouse King' and 'Sugar Plum' for a cookie-related sting operation.
    • The protagonist's grandmother orchestrated a crime from beyond the grave to act as a matchmaker.
    • The recurring obsession with a fictional book series called 'The Mistletoe Mysteries' as a guide for real-life investigation.

    Full story (spoilers)
Annie Cooper has recently taken over as CEO of Cooper’s Cookies in Maplewood following her grandmother Rose's passing. She is struggling to balance her corporate New York background with the town's expectations and a hostile board of directors led by the skeptical Miriam. The situation turns catastrophic when the safe containing the company's secret recipe is burgled, and the digital backup is wiped. Fearing the company's collapse, Annie keeps the theft a secret, enlisting the help of the company's eccentric IT specialist, Calvin. A coupon found at the crime scene leads them to Bella’s Bakery, owned by Sam Hobbs, a local baker who dislikes the corporate direction Annie has taken. Annie initially accuses Sam of the theft but soon realizes he is innocent and possesses the 'instinct' she lacks. She hires him to help her recreate the recipe before the board discovers it is missing. As Annie and Sam spend time together in the kitchen, a romance blossoms. Sam, a widower, is hesitant to open his heart, while Annie struggles with the guilt of having canceled beloved town traditions like the 'Cooper Light Up' for budgetary reasons. Influenced by Sam and his daughter Bella, Annie reinstates the event, pivoting it as a marketing opportunity to appease the board. Meanwhile, the 'investigation' continues with Calvin and Bella using tactics inspired by a fictional book series called 'The Mistletoe Mysteries.' They conduct a disastrous 'sting operation' at a Christmas market to catch a former employee, Greg, only to find he merely stole office supplies. Pressure mounts when Miriam becomes suspicious of Annie's frequent absences. Annie eventually accuses Miriam of the theft, leading to a confrontation where Miriam places Annie on administrative leave. Just as Annie prepares to leave Maplewood in defeat, the family driver and Rose's old friend, Arthur, reveals the truth: he stole the recipe at Rose's request. Rose had left instructions for Arthur to 'steal' the recipe if Annie became too focused on profits, hoping to force her to connect with the town and find a partner like Sam. With the recipe returned and the board's faith restored by the successful Light Up event, Annie and Sam confess their feelings. The film ends with Annie, Sam, and Bella celebrating Christmas together, having realized that the 'secret ingredient' in the cookies was the love and joy shared with the community.
