    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The choir's initial singing is intentionally and aggressively off-key for comedic effect.
    • The 'Secret Aunt' plot involves the Shepards essentially headhunting their niece via a professional profile without telling her who they are.
    • The mention of a fictional record titled 'Accordion To Steve's Christmas Polka'.
    • Carly introduces herself to the choir by stating her zodiac sign ('I'm a Leo').

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Carly Bridges, a music teacher in Philadelphia, who is facing her first Christmas since the death of her mother in June. Seeking a distraction and a fresh start, she accepts a temporary job in Waterford Creek to direct a church choir. Upon arrival, she meets Pastor John and Susan Shepard, who welcome her warmly, though the choir itself is hilariously discordant and lacks any musical cohesion. Carly begins the difficult task of training the group, which includes the shy Riley, a grumpy widower named George, and a young boy named Tyler whose father is serving overseas. Parallel to Carly's arrival, Matthew, a veteran and Riley's brother, returns home to Waterford Creek. He and Carly have several 'meet-cute' encounters, including a moment where he picks out a Christmas tree for her and another where they swap records at a local shop. Matthew struggles with his own transition home, particularly his relationship with his best friend Jenny, whom the town expects him to marry. However, Matthew and Jenny eventually realize they are better as 'friends for life,' clearing the path for his growing attraction to Carly. As rehearsals progress, Carly helps the choir members overcome personal hurdles. She encourages Riley to take a solo and bonds with George over the loss of his wife, who was a dedicated caroler. Carly finds a song on a record Matthew gave her titled 'Time for Me to Come Home' and creates a special arrangement for the choir. The emotional stakes rise when Carly mentions her father's last name was 'Fernie.' This triggers a realization for Susan Shepard, who reveals her own maiden name was Fernie. In the climax, Susan and John confess that they are Carly's biological aunt and uncle. They had found her music profile online and hired her under the guise of a job to bring her into the family after her mother's passing, fearing she would be alone. Though initially overwhelmed by the deception, Carly realizes their intentions were rooted in love. The film concludes with a triumphant Christmas Eve performance of Carly's arrangement. After the service, Matthew and Carly confess their feelings for one another at midnight, and Carly decides to stay in Waterford Creek to continue leading the choir and build a future with her newfound family.
