    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist's backstory involves a suicide attempt and losing her child to the state, which is significantly darker than standard Hallmark fare.
    • The survival of a plastic baggie with cookie crumbs through a catastrophic mid-air explosion and ocean currents.
    • King admits to 'Googling' Peyton on her first day four years ago and has been 'crushing' ever since without making a move.
    • The antagonist is described by an intern as a 'total stallion' who wraps himself in the arms of any woman he wants.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with the tragic crash of Pan Transit Flight 848 off the coast of North Carolina due to an electrical fire. Peyton Macgruder, a columnist for 'The Middleborough Times,' is struggling; her editor, Nora, warns her that her 'Heart Healer' column lacks heart and will be cancelled by Christmas if her readership doesn't improve. While walking on the beach, Peyton discovers a piece of a life vest and a plastic baggie containing a handwritten note that reads: 'T, all is forgiven. Love, Dad.' Recognizing the potential for a story, Peyton begins a quest to find 'T.' She is supported by her colleague Kingston 'King' Danville, who has secretly admired her for years. Peyton first travels to St. Louis to meet Reverend Timothy Lavery, but he confirms the note isn't from his father, though the message inspires him to stay with his struggling congregation. She then visits Taylor Quist, a cynical songwriter in Nashville, who also denies the note is hers but is moved to reconsider her own estranged family. Meanwhile, predatory TV journalist Truman Harris tries to scoop Peyton, eventually finding Tanner Walton, a man who falsely claims the note to help him contest his father's will. Just as Peyton fears the story has been corrupted, she is approached by Christine Everby. Christine provides a Bible with matching handwriting and explains that 'T' stands for 'Tag-along,' her father's nickname for her. She also mentions baking the cookies found in the baggie. In a staggering emotional climax, Peyton realizes that Christine's birthdate matches that of the daughter she gave up for adoption eighteen years prior, following a period of deep despair and a suicide attempt after her husband's death. Peyton exposes Tanner's fraud, saves her column, and finally opens her heart to King. The film concludes with Peyton reuniting with Christine, beginning a relationship with her biological daughter under the guise of friendship while finally finding the healing she has spent years writing about for others.
