    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Traci Fremont struggling to paint for an upcoming Christmas gallery exhibition. Two years prior, she and her husband Greg were a successful artistic duo, but since his death from a brain tumor, she has suffered from a creative block and a loss of faith. Her friend and manager, Joyce, encourages her to attend a Christmas market, where she has a 'meet-cute' with a man named Michael over the last available ornament. Traci later discovers Michael is the leader of a grief support group at Grace Community Church. Though she initially flees the first meeting during a prayer due to her lingering anger toward God, she eventually returns, bringing 'apology cookies.' As the story progresses, Traci bonds with the group members: Justin, a baker who left law school to run his late grandmother's bakery; Ethel, a widow who misses her husband's role as the town Santa; and Regina, who stopped singing after her mother's death. Michael, though a leader, harbors his own secret guilt; his wife Melody died in a car accident while out buying him a Christmas gift. Traci and Michael's relationship deepens as they volunteer together at a youth center and participate in a gift-wrapping contest. A pivotal moment occurs during a 5:00 a.m. group trip to a mountain peak, where Regina finds her voice again and Michael finally confesses the source of his guilt. Traci uses her skills to fix Michael's broken gazebo ornament, a symbol of his late wife, telling him that broken things can be made 'somewhat whole again.' This act of healing inspires Traci to finish her gallery project, which she titles 'Hearts of Healing.' The exhibit is a success, and she reconciles with her father, who finally supports her career choice. The film concludes on Christmas Eve with a balloon release ceremony where the group members honor their lost loved ones. Traci and Michael, having found peace, decide to move forward into a new relationship together, one small step at a time.
