    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins by establishing the legacy of Bedford and Sullivan, a world-renowned musical duo who 'called it quits' ten years prior following a public meltdown in Alberta. In the present day, Quinn Allen is a music manager in New York struggling to book her talented client, Addison Reed. Her boss, Diane, offers her a deal: if Quinn can successfully manage the televised reunion 'Christmas From Big Red,' Diane will book Addison on a major tour. The catch is that Quinn is the estranged daughter of Mike Sullivan, the duo's reclusive songwriter. Quinn travels to her hometown of Pineville and encounters Jason Bedford, the son and manager of Steve Bedford. While Steve is eager for the spotlight to fuel a potential Las Vegas residency, Mike is stubborn, refusing to participate in promotional activities or play their biggest hit, 'One December Night,' which he wrote for his late wife, Vicky. Quinn and Jason decide to 'switch parents' to manage the duo, as Steve has always been kind to Quinn and Mike has a soft spot for Jason (whom he calls 'J-Bug'). Through this strategy, they manage to get the fathers to cooperate for a photo shoot and a caroling event with the local children. However, tensions remain high. Mike reveals to Quinn that he is facing foreclosure on 'Big Red,' the family home and studio, while Steve secretly struggles with his memory. The conflict peaks when the network threatens to cancel the show unless the duo performs 'One December Night.' Steve and the production team secretly record a backup version of the song without Mike's consent, which Mike views as a ultimate betrayal when he finds out. In a pivotal emotional turning point, Steve confesses to Jason and Mike that he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, explaining his frantic work ethic and his fear of being a burden. This revelation dissolves the decades of bitterness between the two men, who reconcile as 'brothers.' On the night of the broadcast, Addison Reed successfully opens the show, and Bedford and Sullivan take the stage together for the first time in a decade. They perform their hits and close with a moving rendition of 'One December Night.' The film concludes with the families celebrating together; Jason reveals he has secured a contract to return Mike's publishing rights, and he and Quinn hint at a romantic future together in Pineville and New York.
