    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist is treated for a head injury by a 'large animal vet' because the human doctor is on vacation.
    • Avery uses hazelnut coffee/scents to lure horses during a stampede.

    Full story (spoilers)
Avery Ford is the face of the 'Aim to Please' Western franchise, but in New York, he is a pampered actor who relies on stunt doubles and avoids animals. When his career stalls, his manager Candace sends him to Paradise Ranch in Montana for a promotional event. Upon arrival, Avery meets Heather Twain and her father Casey, a legendary rodeo champion. Avery's attempts to look the part—wearing brand-new boots and carrying a 'messenger bag'—immediately signal to the locals that he is a fraud. During a public demonstration, Avery is forced to mount a horse named Buttercup; he promptly falls off, and the video goes viral, causing the studio to cancel his next film. To avoid returning to New York in shame and to stay near Heather, Avery exploits a minor head injury to stay at the ranch, where he is treated by Dr. Frank, a large-animal veterinarian. As Avery spends time on the ranch, he begins to drop his facade, learning to mend fences and even drive a tractor. He bonds with Heather over their shared feelings of isolation, though she remains wary of his 'actor' nature. A subplot involves Guthrie, a former friend of Heather's who now works for developers trying to foreclose on the ranch. The tension peaks when Guthrie's employers attempt to sabotage the ranch by releasing the horses. Avery, using hazelnuts to lure the animals, successfully helps round them up, proving he has learned some real-world skills. Candace arrives to pull Avery back to a new movie deal, but her dismissive attitude toward the ranch and Heather causes a rift. Avery eventually realizes that his Hollywood life was an escape from his lonely upbringing in a group home. He decides to use his own money to pay off the ranch's debt anonymously. In the resolution, Avery returns to Montana, reveals he bought the loan to save the ranch, and commits to a real relationship with Heather, finally living the life he once only pretended to have on screen.
