    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The use of expensive suitcases as emergency pear-harvesting buckets during a storm.
    • The 'marriage fruit' concept where two pears grow together as a heavy-handed metaphor for romance.
    • A surgeon winning a pumpkin carving contest because her 'surgical skills' make her the best at it.
    • The 'squirrel bite' method of determining fruit ripeness.

Why we’d put this one on

Jen Lilley and Ryan Paevey is a pairing the fans request by name, and Harvest Love hands them a pear orchard to fall for each other in. She is a burned-out Seattle surgeon who brings her son to the family farm; he is the agronomist running the place with a secret hybrid pear up his sleeve. It is a Thanksgiving enemies-to-lovers with a real autumn glow. The detail I love: she wins a pumpkin-carving contest because her surgical skills make her the obvious favorite. Add expensive suitcases pressed into duty as emergency harvest buckets and you have a charming, low-key fall watch.

    Full story (spoilers)
Dr. Luna Gilson is a high-powered general surgeon in Seattle who is so overwhelmed by her schedule that she misses her son Andy's school events. At the urging of her parents, who are currently practicing medicine in Cameroon, she takes Andy to the family's ancestral pear farm in Pineview for a week-long break. Their arrival is marked by a tense encounter on a one-lane road with Will Nash, a man who refuses to yield and later turns out to be the farm's manager. Luna soon learns from her parents that they intend to sell the farm, which saddens her despite her busy city life. As she settles in, she begins to use her medical skills to help the community, treating a child's scraped knee, stabilizing a farmhand's broken leg after a tractor accident, and diagnosing a local's arthritis. Will, who is revealed to be a scientist with a degree in agronomy, shows Luna and Andy the ropes of the farm, including his secret project: a crossbred pear called the 'Gilson Beauty' that looks like an apple but tastes like an apricot. The romance between Luna and Will blossoms during a harvest moon viewing and a pumpkin-carving contest, which Luna wins due to her surgical precision. However, conflict arises when Luna is offered a massive promotion to Senior Consultant of General Surgery back in Seattle. Simultaneously, a storm threatens the harvest, leading Luna to rally the townspeople to save the crop. At the Harvest Festival, Will's 'Gilson Beauty' wins the top prize, defeating the arrogant rival Ronald Williamsburg. Andy overhears Luna discussing the Seattle promotion and mistakenly believes they are leaving immediately. In the resolution, Luna realizes her happiness lies in Pineview; she turns down the promotion to open a local practice. Will reveals he has used his patent earnings to buy a portion of the Gilson farm, and the movie ends with the two of them agreeing to be partners in both the farm and life.
