    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The proposal involves a fishing lure/hook being used to 'catch' a ring box in a river.
    • The plot heavily features the legal technicality of Montana ranchers being notaries who can perform marriages.
    • The 'breakup' fight is surprisingly grounded and harsh for Hallmark, involving the line 'Don't tell me how to raise my daughter.'

    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with Tara Kendall visiting New York to see her daughter Erin and her ex-husband James, who is celebrating a gender reveal for his new baby. Meanwhile, Boone Taylor maintains his ranch in Parable, Montana, eagerly awaiting Tara's return. Upon her arrival, Boone proposes during a fishing trip by pretending to catch a 'live one' that turns out to be his mother's engagement ring. Tara joyfully accepts, and they begin the process of merging their lives. The transition is not without friction; Boone's sons, Griffin and Fletcher, are hesitant to leave their childhood home which holds memories of their late mother, while Erin feels displaced by her father's new son in New York. A subplot involves Tara's friend Casey, a country singer, who reunites with her former songwriting partner and flame, Peter Alan Crowe. While they create beautiful music together, Casey ultimately decides she cannot leave the peace she found in Parable for the chaos of Nashville. The central conflict escalates when a local boy, Dawson, attempts to impress Erin by recklessly driving a truck without a license. Boone, acting in his capacity as Sheriff, treats the matter strictly, leading to a major confrontation with Tara. Tara accuses Boone of being too harsh and 'losing his temper' with Erin, while Boone argues that Tara is too permissive. The argument becomes so intense that Tara asks for a 'break' from the relationship, questioning if their blended family can truly work. However, the children eventually bridge the gap; Griffin and Fletcher express their readiness to call Tara 'Mom,' and Erin reconciles with her father over the phone. Realizing their love is stronger than their disagreements, Tara and Boone reunite. The film concludes at a town potluck where, instead of a traditional ceremony, they opt for a surprise wedding officiated by their friend Hutch, who is a notary. They exchange vows in front of their children and the entire town, officially becoming a family.
