The film opens with Maggie McKenzie performing a gig, only to be told by her manager, Lewis, that she has been cut from the Dalton Blake tour because she doesn't 'sell enough tickets.' Dejected, she returns home to her parents' Christmas tree farm. Simultaneously, Archer Donovan and his sister Piper meet with their late father's lawyer. In a display of extreme parental dysfunction, their father's will stipulates that his seat on the company board will go to whichever sibling has the higher net worth at 12:01 AM on Christmas morning. Archer retreats to the Billsboro House in Maggie's hometown to escape the pressure. Archer and Maggie meet when he visits the tree farm to buy his first-ever Christmas tree. Maggie is initially hostile toward Archer when she discovers he owns Archline, a company that creates music-tuning apps she believes devalue real talent. However, they begin to bond after Archer accidentally freezes his tree in an outdoor bathtub and Maggie helps him salvage it. Archer reveals himself to be a talented baker, winning over Maggie's family with homemade cinnamon rolls. Maggie reluctantly takes over the local children's choir, and Archer convinces her to use a beta version of his new music-education app to help the kids. Meanwhile, the competition between Archer and Piper intensifies when Piper arrives in town with her children. Maggie's career hits rock bottom when Lewis officially drops her as a client. Archer proposes a solution: Maggie will headline a global livestream concert to launch his new 'Project Harmonies' app, which focuses on original singer-songwriter talent. The plan is jeopardized when a video of Maggie's father, Ed, goes viral, causing Archer's company stock to soar and giving him a massive lead in the net worth competition. Piper, feeling betrayed and believing Archer orchestrated the leak to 'win' the board seat, prepares to leave. On Christmas Eve, a massive storm knocks out the power at the venue. The community rallies, using generators and candles to allow the concert to proceed. Maggie performs a new original song, 'All I Need for Christmas,' which becomes an instant hit. In the aftermath, Archer and Piper reconcile, deciding to demand a joint board seat from the company. Maggie rejects her old manager's attempt to sign her back, choosing to pursue her career on her own terms with Archer by her side.
