Jo Payden is a successful romance author whose career is in jeopardy after her latest book, 'Flames of Desire,' was mocked by critics for its lack of realism regarding firefighters. Her publisher, Diana, gives her an ultimatum: her next book, 'SEALed with a Kiss,' must be authentic or her career is over. To ensure this, Diana enlists her brother, Colin Kelly, a highly decorated retired Navy SEAL, to act as a consultant. Colin, who views Jo as a pampered 'Princess,' insists that she cannot write about SEALs without experiencing their training. Jo is forced to join 'Team Delta' at Colin's bootcamp, where she struggles with physical challenges like the high wall and mud crawls. Along the way, she befriends her teammates—PJ, Tiny, and Carlie—and introduces them to 'yoga breathing' to help them endure the physical strain of holding heavy logs. As the training progresses, the friction between Jo and Colin turns into mutual respect and attraction. Colin helps Jo refine her characters, Luke and Abby, pushing her to make their romance more grounded and less idealistic. During a private swimming lesson, Jo reveals her fear of water stems from her 'absent-minded professor' parents never teaching her; Colin helps her learn to float, creating a moment of intense emotional intimacy. However, Jo's insecurities resurface when she sees Colin with Alexis, a woman she assumes is his girlfriend. This misunderstanding, combined with Colin's impending move to Auckland, New Zealand, leads Jo to finish her book early and distance herself from the team. At the book's launch party, Jo is confronted by the harsh critic Lowell Bingley but defends the honor of the military. She then meets Alexis, who reveals she is actually a happily married old friend of Colin's. Realizing her mistake, Jo finds a note Colin left in her copy of the book, where he confesses that 'home' is not a location but a person—her. Encouraged by Diana and her best friend Molly, Jo overcomes her fear of travel and races to the airport. She finds Colin, who was also having second thoughts about leaving her behind. Jo reveals she has bought a ticket to New Zealand to join him on his adventure. The film ends with the two of them reuniting as a 'team' and embarking on their greatest adventure: true love.
