A Whitewater Romance

Maya Alvaro is a hardworking Vesta East employee in New York who is trying to prove she deserves an executive promotion while also helping support her younger sister's future. When Allegra Adams, Vesta's CEO, unexpectedly calls and invites her to a corporate retreat at the Whitewater Lodge in the Colorado Rockies, Maya's boss Marilyn immediately sees the trip as a competition for the HighlightREAL contract and tells Maya to report back with intelligence on the other offices. Maya arrives in the mountains feeling out of her element, especially compared with the more obviously outdoorsy employees Allegra has gathered. Allegra turns the retreat into a series of team-building games and trust exercises, including a forest version of cat-and-mouse, campsite-building challenges, and a blindfolded high-wire crossing. Maya is paired with Matt Meyer, the charismatic Vesta West rep who seems to know the wilderness far better than she does, and their sharp banter quickly reveals both rivalry and chemistry. When Maya and Matt realize the app's HighlightREAL concept could be paired with a real-time livestream from the final whitewater run through Breakneck Bend, they create a plan that could both impress Allegra and bring attention to the lodge. The idea hinges on showing the beauty of a place with no filters and geotagging the lodge so viewers can find it. The plan nearly collapses when Marilyn's pressure and Maya's secret note-taking come to light, making Matt believe Maya has been using him and the other employees as career fodder. On the final rafting run, Maya finally tells the truth about her boss's manipulation and admits that the team genuinely matters to her. When the raft goes live and the group survives the rapids together, the footage becomes an authentic viral moment, and Allegra recognizes that the app works best when it captures real people in real places living real life. In the end, Allegra rewards Maya and Matt's collaboration, the lodge starts generating new bookings, and Vesta expands with new international opportunities.
