A Tail of Love

Bella Channing and her grandmother Lily run a rescue center in Bridal Falls that specializes in rehabilitating military and police dogs. Their latest arrival is Indie, a dog from Kandahar whose military files have gone missing. The center's stability is shattered when they receive a notice that Stockard Pet Foods is ending its sponsorship. Bella confronts JR Stockard, who has returned from military service in Belgium to sell his late parents' company. JR is initially unaware of the situation, but the buyer, Rachel Montgomerie, reveals a shocking truth: the rescue center and Lily’s house are actually on Stockard property, and she intends to demolish them to build a new facility. Lily insists they bought the land 25 years ago, but a fire at the land registry has wiped out the official records. JR, feeling a sense of duty to his mother’s best friend Lily, begins helping Bella search through hundreds of storage boxes for the original severance agreement. As they spend time together, JR and Bella develop feelings, highlighted by a scene where JR accidentally eats and enjoys Bella's all-natural dog cookies. The conflict escalates when JR receives orders for a new tour in Iraq, and Rachel attempts to manipulate Bella by claiming JR is becoming her business partner. Despite the impending deployment, JR continues to search and eventually finds the 'Stockard copy' of the severance papers in his family home. He gives the papers to the family lawyer, Ed, to deliver to Bella so she can save the center. At the 'Pooches in the Park' fundraiser, Bella learns the center is safe and that Rachel lied about JR's partnership. JR arrives at the event and reveals he has transferred to the local reserves to stay in Bridal Falls. He officially adopts Indie and confesses his love to Bella, promising a future together.
