    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • Christmas Bingo: A series of dares including eating 12 cookies in public and shouting 'Bah Humbug' at strangers.
    • Santa Sawyer on a Stick: A marketing gimmick where customers find a cutout of the love interest's face to win gift certificates.
    • The Reindeer Games: A series of 'extreme' small-town athletic challenges that the characters take as seriously as the Olympics.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Harper Stevens, a successful editor at Stillman Publishing, overseeing the launch of the third book in the 'Whispers' YA fantasy franchise. Despite the success, Harper feels exhausted and disconnected, telling her boss Nancy that she has lost her 'spark' because the industry focuses more on marketing data than storytelling. She decides to take a month-long leave and miraculously gets a last-minute spot in a program to run 'The Book Cabinet' in St. Ives, Maine, for the holidays. Upon arrival, she meets Sawyer, the son of the owners, who has introduced a wine café into the bookstore to save it from financial ruin. Harper initially criticizes the wine bar as a 'gimmick,' while Sawyer assumes she is an amateur with no real business experience. Harper keeps her professional identity a secret, wanting to 'lay low.' While working, Harper follows a 'Christmas Bingo' card sent by her best friend Kimberly, which includes tasks like wearing an elf suit and eating a dozen cookies in public. She befriends the locals, including Josie, a college student considering dropping out, and the pub owner Rhys. The central plot thickens when Harper discovers Sawyer is a talented writer with an unfinished manuscript in his desk. After a 'Reindeer Games' competition where Harper wins a bet against Sawyer, she convinces him to let her host a 'Write On' event for local authors. Sawyer eventually shares his manuscript with her, and Harper reveals her true identity as a top editor. She begins mentoring him, pushing him to deepen the emotional core and romance in his story. As they grow closer, Sawyer reveals he gave up his writing dreams to help his parents after his father's heart attack. Meanwhile, Harper's parents arrive in town and accidentally reveal to Sawyer that Harper's best friend Kimberly passed away recently, explaining Harper's deep grief and her motivation for the Bingo card. Harper sends Sawyer's completed manuscript to her boss in New York, who loves it and offers a deal. However, Sawyer decides he needs to travel the world to find more stories rather than staying to run the store for its new buyer. The film concludes months later in New York; Sawyer returns from his travels to surprise Harper at a pub. He reveals that he realized his life is wherever she is, and they finally complete Harper's final Bingo challenge: a kiss under the mistletoe.
