    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • A Christmas Eve obstacle course is staged as a family bonding activity.
    • A holiday game called Candy Pass is based on counting the word 'the' in The Night Before Christmas.
    • A family portrait of Liv and Daniel as Santa and Mrs. Elf with future elf children accidentally sparks proposal confusion.

    How it all plays out

Already seen it, or just can’t wait? Open this up for the whole story, ending included.

    Full story (spoilers)
Liv and Daniel first spark at Helen’s Christmas party, where Liv is helping host and Daniel arrives at the wrong house with eggnog on his shoe. They bond instantly over cookies, holiday banter, and a shared sense that the other person “gets” them. Their chemistry is obvious enough that a mistletoe joke leads to a kiss and a mutual sense that they may have found something real. The real pressure comes from the fact that they are about to host both of their families for Christmas in their new home. Liv is determined to make every detail perfect, from the lights and the turkey to the snacks and decorations, while Daniel tries to help but often defaults to avoiding conflict. Their different styles start to grate on each other, especially when the Christmas turkey is accidentally ordered for the wrong date, the tree is only partly lit, and each partner feels unheard. The tension peaks when they finally admit they are overwhelmed and decide to take a break, planning to pretend everything is fine for the family gathering. Before they can even settle into that arrangement, the hotel where everyone is supposed to stay floods, and all eight family members are forced into Liv and Daniel’s house. The sudden full-house setup makes their private problems impossible to hide, and the family’s constant commentary turns every awkward moment into a public one. As the holiday traditions begin, the chaos gets bigger rather than smaller. The parents insist on Candy Pass, chocolate rugelach, fruitcake, and other traditions, while Daniel and Liv’s siblings Kim and Reid immediately sense something is off and start scheming to reunite them. Meanwhile, Maya reveals she has been taking art classes and presents a portrait of Liv and Daniel as a future family, which accidentally exposes just how much everyone is projecting marriage and children onto them. The truth finally spills out when the families realize Liv and Daniel have broken up and Daniel was even planning to propose. The argument that follows forces both of them to face the deeper issue: they are not just fighting about lights, turkeys, or decorations, but about fear, control, and the possibility of repeating their parents’ mistakes. Daniel admits he wants a family and wants Liv, and Liv admits she has been hiding him instead of trusting him. He returns with the missing lights, apologizes, and promises to keep trying even when things get hard. Liv accepts his proposal, the tree is fixed, and Christmas ends with the whole family back together in a much more honest, loving place.
