About the series
Alex McPherson returns to a place she knew as a child with a disappearance to investigate and a podcast to make. Her collaboration with newspaper editor Drew Godfrey turns the series into a small newsroom mystery. Alison Sweeney and Benjamin Ayres lead, but the Chronicle colleagues matter too. The cases offer a reason to compare an accepted account with the people and evidence that account left out.
What to expect
Expect interviews, overlooked details and colleagues pursuing different angles of a story. Alex's podcast and Drew's newspaper reporting let the films approach cases through journalism rather than police authority. Personal connections begin the series, while later subjects include a vineyard, a murder trial and a self-help retreat.
